Theatre Workshop with Anna Helena McLean
In a captivating confluence of cultures and theatrical methodologies, Ebong Amra orchestrated a transformative Residential Theatre Workshop at Tepantar Theatre Village starting in November 2015. The workshop featured the esteemed presence of Anna Helena McLean, a distinguished British music theatre and ensemble coach, renowned for her innovative approach to acting and voice training known as the ‘Actor-Chorus-Text’ (ACT). This event marked a significant chapter in Ebong Amra’s theatre education, drawing students from various corners of the country to partake in this enriching experience.
Anna Helena McLean’s unique methodology, ACT, provided a novel perspective on theatre training. The focus of the workshop was not only on individual performances but also on the synergy of the ensemble, emphasizing the interconnectedness of actors, the chorus, and the text. Attendees delved into the intricacies of body movement, discovering the power of physicality in conveying emotions and narratives on stage.
